2003, the year in which scientists from around the world successfully finished sequencing about 99% of the human genome and Apple launched iTunes, was also the year we were born.

We were born 3 months premature and our chances of survival were very slim. The nurses and doctors who fought hard to ensure our good health are our true heroes – we are grateful for their commitment and selfless service in ensuring our survival, despite the heavy odds against us. We are also thankful to be born in Boston, MA, where healthcare is cutting-edge, high-quality, and easily accessible. We are alive, healthy, and happy today because of the committed health professionals and innovative medical facilities in Boston. However, in spite of various organizations implementing new, cost-effective interventions to save more premature babies’ lives, so many premature babies across the globe are not as fortunate as we were.

According to the World Health Organization, about 15 million babies are born premature each year, and preterm birth complications are the leading cause of death for children under 5-years-old. The most staggering fact is that 75% of these deaths are preventable. The Koul Project’s goal is to do just that: prevent such deaths and ensure all babies have access to the best health care possible.

The Koul Project is an organization focused on giving back to communities that are close to our hearts. Our goal is to raise funds and execute community service projects for organizations, like Neonatal Intensive Care Units and specialized medical nonprofit groups, that provide healthcare for premature babies.

We strive to ensure every child has access to healthcare and healthy living.
